10th edition

Tasmeem Doha is a biennial international conference focusing on unique and contemporary themes in art and design. The 2019 edition focused on the theme of «playfulness» as expressed by the Arabizi word 3ajeeb! (ahh-jhee-b) meaning «strange in a strange way, cool in a cool way, and slightly weird in a slightly weird way».

Hekayat 2019

It’s a simple question, but it can provoke countless results: “What’s your story?”

For Tasmeem Doha 2019, the proposed theme is “Hekayat” (stories): a platform where narrative is explored through various mediums, and stories will be shared and celebrated in a multitude of forms. Hekayat hopes to shift the focus onto the process rather than the outcome alone. This introduction is the ultimate equalizer, inviting empathy and understanding. Additionally, much of the wonder of stories lies in how they’re told - from papyrus scrolls to Twitter feeds, and from cave paintings to Instagram stories.
